How do you spell the Class designation (X-5, X5, X/5, etc.)?
X5 is spelled X5. Therefore, Max's designation is spelled X5-452 (As seen in "Designate This"). However, X-2s and X-9s seem to have a different identification system for a currently unknown reason. The only X-2 ever seen was identified as X-2/0045D (As seen in "Pollo Loco"). The only X-9 ever seen was identified as X-9/343 (as seen in "The Berrisford Agenda"; the third digit is negotiable). Classes X1, X3, X4, X6, X7, and X8 have not been seen spelled so it is unknown how they are identified. Because the only member ever seen of Class X-9 was locked in the basement at Manticore's Washington facility, liked the X-2s, it is possible that once a Class becomes defective they are reclassified, but this is purely theory at this point.

When was the escape and how did it start?
In February of 2009, led by the Zack and Eva. Zack launched the escape in response to the guards' attempts to remove Max, who was having a seizure, from the barracks for testing and ultimately death.
How many escaped?
Twelve X5s escaped that night.
What about Zack?
While Max and Jondy were climbing the perimeter fence to safety, a member of the TAC team in pursuit of the rogue X5s was about to shoot them. Zack stopped him, allowing Max and Jondy to escape, and was tasered and recaptured as a result. He managed to escape later, though how and under what circumstances remains a mystery.
What happened to the ones that didn't escape?
Those X5s who stayed behind or were recaptured were "simplified" to have less independence by being subjected to psychoactives and subliminal messages. They were also brainwashed into believing that their former unit members who did escape were traitors. Walls were installed between their beds in the barracks and they were under surveillance at all times.

What was wrong with Jack?
As far as I can guess, there was some flaw in his genetic code which caused him to be weaker than the rest of the X5s; he couldn't hold his breath as long, was weaker-minded than the others, and he had the most violent and frequent seizures.
I've seen "Zack" spelled Zach, Zack, and other variations. Who's right?

If Ben murdered 9 people before coming to Seattle and Zack was looking out for all the X5s, why didn't Zack stop him?
The definitive answer to this question is currently unknown, but there are two schools of thought on the subject. One states that the murders may have begun after the time that Zack turned himself in for the murder of PI Dan Vogelsang in December of 2019, and of course because they ended while Zack was in Canada with Tinga there was no opportunity to hear about what Ben was doing, let alone stop him. The other theory is that Zack "cut Ben loose," so to speak, at some point because he couldn't handle what Ben had become and the fact that Ben wished they hadn't left Manticore. This remains just one more mystery of Zack's post-escape life; perhaps if he and Max ever discuss this brother we will finally know what really happened.
Why didn't Max get progeria if her X7 clone did?
Because progeria is so rare that if effects only 1 in 4 million people, the fact that four X5s have already developed it is very indicative of a genetic abnormality. Progeria is caused by the mutation of a single gene; the syndrome is the result of a dominant mutation because the gene in question has one normal copy and one abnormal copy, as opposed to a recessive mutation in which both copies are abnormal. The mutation seems to occur at egg fertilization, proven by the fact that it does not show up in the perliminary genetic workups of the embryos before they are engineered. Max's X7 clone began suffering from the syndrome in the summer of 2020; other than her X7-specific code sequences, she was an exact copy of Max, which indicates that Max should have begun suffering from the syndrome at the same age as the X7 did. No one knows what causes spontaneous gene mutations, only that they have allowed us to evolve to the point we are at now. However, there are some theories that suggest one of the many unknown uses for the so-called "junk DNA" could be the ability for a person's genes to mutate. If this is true, then because it has been discovered that Max does not have any junk DNA it is possible that her cells are unable to mutate and so development of the syndrome was impossible.

How many Manticore facilities are there?
No one really knows. Originally there was one, in Gillette, Wyoming, USA, where all the X5s grew up. It was indicated by Manticore Director Renfro before her death that there were other facilities, and there was at least one other near Seattle, Washington, USA, which burned to the ground in September of 2020.
Where does Manticore get all its funding?
This has only been hinted to, but it seems there was secret governmental funding for the Manticore project (before the Pulse, of course) which was nearly cut off after the X5 escape. After the Pulse, when the government became corrupt, Manticore was given funding by an agency referred to only as "the Committe," about which nothing is really known.
How many classes were created at Manticore?
There are at least nine X classes if not more. Some groups of transgenics created in Manticore were not completely human. Many were animal-human hybrids highly specialized for certain types of missions as well as computer-like processing transgenics used to collect and interpret raw data. How are Manticore transgenics created?
A brief description of a DNA molecule: Shaped sort of like a twisted ladder, chemicals that interlock to form the rungs of the ladder are called bases. The sides of the ladder are made of sugar and phosphate molecules. The human body has about three billion base pairs, but only about 4 percent of those pairs are DNA that affects gene function. The other 96 percent of base pairs seems to do nothing, and is reffered to collectively as "junk DNA." Manticore transgenics are made using recombinant DNA- this basically means that genes from animals are spliced onto a specifically engineered human genome so that this new genetic information becomes part of the human DNA and is replicated when the cell divides. This eventually produces a child which is, roughly speaking, "part" cat, or fish, or dog, or whatever animal's DNA is spliced onto theirs. This is what allows X5s to see in the dark, have quick reflexes, jump higher, run faster, etc.
