History: Quintin was born at a time when his parents, Stephen and Amelia Miller, were tentatively trying to rebuild their relationship. Stephen wasn't always the best kind of husband and only after two years of marriage Amelia found out he'd cheated. His extramarital affair was with a woman named Ella Fritzgerald and though it didn't last long the affair had damaging effects on the the Miller's relationship. The one thing Amelia found worse than Stephen having cheated was the fact that Ella was pregnant. Stephen quickly professed to both women that he never intended to leave Amelia, but still wanted to be part of the child's life which didn't suit the ideas or plans Ella seemed to have wanted and flatly refused Stephen any rights to the child the moment he told her that. Amelia however didn't turn a deaf ear on Stephen's pleas.

After nearly four months she came around to letting him back in tentatively to her life, but not her home. Shortly after though she found herself pregnant. Amelia still held doubts about Stephen and refused flatly to let him move back in. It was only after having been separated for nearly six months, two of which being while she was pregnant, Amelia let him come back. Two months later, in August, Stephen received word that Ella Fritzgerald had given birth to a baby boy named Caleb. Again Stephen attempted to reach out to her and become part of his son's life, but was ultimately shot down. Only five months later Quintin was born in mid March.

Quin was four, just two months shy of his fifth birthday, when an an unexpected turn of events took the toddler from being an adored only child to being part of a rambunctious duo. At the time Quintin really didn't understand who the woman was or how his family had any connection to her, just that one Thursday afternoon he was dressed up in a suit and taken by his father and mother to a funeral, the first he'd ever been to. It was only much later that he learned that the woman was Ella Fritzgerald and the mother of his half-brother, whom he'd never met or seen. Quin marvels now at the strength of character his mother must of had to attend his father's mistress' funeral.

It was less then a week after the funeral that Caleb came to live with the Millers. It was only upon Caleb's arrival into their home that Quintin even learned who Caleb was. Of course at the time Quintin didn't really understand the implications of Caleb being his father's son but not his mother's, not until he was much older. Like all children though with no prejudgments or grudges Quintin took to Caleb, quickly learning to share and play as if Caleb had always been there. Life at the Miller home went from quiet to a bit of a ruckus as the two children bonded. Caleb was roughly Quin's same age, which made it easy for the two children to get along. Quin was happy to fall into the role of little brother to Caleb.

As the pair grew up Quin was the more quiet book type that was always happy to tag along with his brother or be duped into some game or another by Caleb. By their teens though the boys had drifted as far apart in personalities as possible. Caleb began acting out and Quintin turned inward more. At thirteen Quintin did what any kid that was already a bit tall for his age would have done to fit in, he tried out for the basketball team. He's been on the team ever since, it's one of the things he is surprisingly good at.
