Appearance: The first thing you’ll notice about Ryan is his hair. His short brown hair is always messy, sticking in all directions giving him the nickname ‘Shaggy’. He has slight olive tone to his skin, dark brown eyes, a stiff jaw and a slight mole just above his lip on his right side. He stands 6’1 and is sturdy and muscular from his sports training and getting into trouble with his friends, and multiple small scars too match. His clothing style is just jeans, t-shirt and a hoody, and most of the time it’s dirty. Clothes are so you don’t walk around naked as fat as he’s concerned so he doesn’t care what he’s wearing really as long as it doesn’t smell skanky.

Persona: Sean Faris

Personality: When you first meet Ryan, you can’t help but question if he actually understands the meaning of the word ‘serious’. He’s a clown, who just likes to hang out with his friends and have fun. He does have a tendency to be a follower, so when one of his friends has the idea to do something stupid, he’ll do it with them just for the sake of it. Birds of a feather flock together, and unfortunately that’s true with Ryan. Being friends with Finneas O’Connor, he happily watches the guy’s stunts and sometimes tries them out with him often ending up with one of the two being hurt. But you even mention his father, and the soft smirk disappears and he’ll leave the room without saying a word knowing that if a conversation starts, it’ll end up in a fight.

Pets: After a bad visit with their dad, Ryan and Hannah got a female border collie cross puppy (who is now five). Ryan sarcastically opted to call the dog Random the Hyper Pooch, but Hannah liked the name though they call her Randi for short.

Friends: Ryan’s closest friend is Finneas O’Connor, the two having been friends since they were six after Finn broke his wrist trying to fly with cardboard wings. Ryan went up to him at school, and asked if it’d worked, and they’ve been friends ever since.

History: Ryan’s parents Joel and Corrine met through Corrine’s father Hamish; Joel was a newly graduated police cadet and was partnered with Hamish Crawford. After bumping into Corrine once or twice at the station Joel asked Corrine out to dinner. Dinner lead to a heated relationship between the two, all behind the back of Hamish who never had a clue the two were dating until a series of work related incidents lead Joel to ask Corrine to marry him. Hamish and Joel suddenly went at odds, both men disliking each other for various reasons, but tried too keep civil for Corrine’s sake. In an attempt too come between Corrine and her father, Joel applied for a job in California, not even telling Corrine till after he got the job. The newly married couple moved states, to start a new life together. But being away from Hamish’s watchful eye Joel quickly fell back into the habit of looking at women other then his wife in a romantic way.

He was though able to keep his intercessions hidden from Corrine, who never had idea of his multiple infidelities. Ryan was born, and Joel promised himself that he’d be a good father and broke of the relationship he was having with another women focusing solely on Corrine and their newborn son. It didn’t last though, and by the time Corrine was pregnant with Hannah, Joel was dating the same person he had been before, but this time Corrine found out. She was six months pregnant at the time, and spotted Joel and another women walking hand in hand with another women, pausing to kiss her. Corrine did a little digging and found out found love notes from the women hidden in his desk.

She kicked Joel out the same day but with Joel being the manipulator that he was, he was able too weasel his way back into her life. It least until the Hannah was born. Corrine’s father Hamish came for the birth, and he gave her the confidence to start divorce proceedings, which both parties signed when baby Hannah was a month old. She wanted nothing to do with Joel, going back to her maiden name, and changing both children’s names to her maiden name and moved away wanting a complete new start. Ambrose Island was the perfect place it was still in state but far away from Joel, and she knew he’d not follow, as there was no need for a police detective on a small island.

After the move, Joel completely cut himself out of his children’s lives, only sending cards on birthday and Christmas and the rare phone calls. With Hannah being an optimist, she looked forward to the ever rare occasions she got to spend time with her dad, but every time she came home she was upset about the encounter causing Ryan to become overly protective of her in regards to their father. Ryan never really looked forward too the encounters with his dad as being older, he had slightly better perspective of what his dad was really like.

When they moved to the island, Corrine got a job working the dayshift at Lush, which was perfect for the young single mother. She was able to leave both children at day-care, and work from 2pm till 9pm four days a week, then take the kids home and be the one to put them to bed (something she always has taken great delight in). After four years, Corrine got offered the role of dayshift manager, which meant a pay increase and an extra day a week, but she was still able to be home in time to put her children to bed. Both Ryan and Hannah have thrived living on the island in a safe friendly community, but still for Ryan his dad is a sore spot and he wants nothing to do with him.

Vehicle: He doesn’t own a car but does own a bike. It’s a red diamond back grind stunt bike that he uses for stunts and getting him around. He also has a skateboard, but this is his main mode of transport and his pride and joy.
