-Character Details-
Appearance: Growing up, everyone saw Grace as the blond who was always in some kind of mischief; evident by the cheeky grin she always wore. But things have changed. She still has the same bright blue eyes, and the same round face with strong cheekbones, and still the same cheeky smirk, she just doesn’t get to wear it that much. She has long blond layered hair that hangs past her shoulders, which she keeps parted on the right with long bangs that hang around her face making it seem longer. She’s somewhat tall, standing at 5’7’’ and has a toned athletic body with some muscle from chasing after all her siblings, and her cheerleader training. Grace wears makeup on occasion, but only when she feels the need (mainly as she doesn’t have time to put it on, and she has to hide her makeup from her sisters).
Grace’s clothing is extremely eclectic ranging from fashionable clothing that she gets from her Aunt (who buys them at boutiques from around the world), right through to ripped jeans and Wal-Mart T-Shirts. Due to her eclectic tastes, you find that Grace’s clothes often mirror her emotions for the day so her friends can easily tell what kind of mood she’s in, by if she’s wearing a mini-skirt and loose halter or a pair of jeans and T-Shirt. But Grace does take extremely good care of her clothes due to the fact that she knows they’ll be hand me downs for her younger sisters.
Persona: Kirsten Dunst
Personality: One thing that Grace hasn’t told anyone and tries not to admit even to herself, is that she feels that her mother thinks it was a mistake to have her, and all five of her younger siblings are some kind of an attempt to ‘get it right’. It’s for that reason that despite loving her siblings, being protective and caring for them, she can have a low patience level at times when it comes to them, and they can annoy her easily (especially Saffron and Natalie when they fight). But to all her friends at school, Grace is just someone who loves to live life to the fullest and have fun. She’s the life of the party and full of laughs or giggles, easily able to make those around her relax. She is often compared to an Energizer battery bunny (earning the nickname bunny), by people, as she just keeps going and going. She’s always on the move, always has somewhere to be, something to do but she’s still happy to drop everything and focus on her friends or siblings if they need her undivided attention and help.
Grace doesn’t get to spend much time worrying about herself, her own wants and needs as she has so many other people that rely on her to take care of them. She gives her love and attention to those around her, they take it and in return she gets nothing, but rather then get upset she hides her emotions behind her ‘must do’ attitude. Grace wants have a boyfriend, be able to party, have fun and do all the normal things that a teenager does like being selfish but she barely gets the chance to think like that before there is another crisis that she needs to fix. For once in her life, Grace just wants to be able to put herself first and be a selfish teenager, and not the responsible adult.

History: Grace’s mother Tracy was born the youngest of three girls, and forever living in her older sister’s shadows. She fought hard to be just like them, pretty, popular and smart, wanting to be better then the two of them at something. She worked hard in high school, graduating in the top 2% of her class, and went onto San Diego State University on a full academic scholarship. She still wanted to be better then her sisters in some way, one had already started a family and the other had taken to travelling so Tracy decided that she’d have a career that was one up on both of them. She majored in advertising, juggling a part time job and her study but still it was during her four years there that she met her first husband Simon Halliday. The two dated for two years before Simon asked Tracy to marry him. Tracy agreed, and they had a yearlong engagement until they finally married just after graduation.
The main reason that Tracy married Simon though, was as it was what was expected of her. She did love Simon, but she wasn’t in love with him, so right from the start it was more of an arrangement then anything else. Tracy was in the marriage for the ring and how it proved to her sisters and her boss that she had a stable life, but Simon was in it for love, he truly loved Tracy. Family was always a high priority for Simon, who wanted to start a family, but not Tracy who was focussed on her job. But then she met Samuel Bishop, Executive of Bishop Anders Advertising (the British extension of the American advertising firm she worked for). Tracy was asked too show him around and it was during the three weeks that Samuel was in the states that Tracy had an affair with him and got pregnant with Grace.
Tracy didn’t reveal her infidelity to Simon, and Simon believed Grace to be his until she was two and a half, when Tracy accidentally told him during a heated argument. Simon loved Grace, and tried to make things work, but he found he couldn’t trust Tracy for keeping such a big secret from him and the two had completely divorced by the time Grace was four. But both parents decided that for Grace’s sake that she shouldn’t be told who her real father was and she still to this day believes that Simon Halliday is her biological father. Tracy didn’t really have plans to date after her divorce, but she met Calvin Duncan and actually fell in love with him. The two dated a while, and in time Tracy found she was pregnant again.
Tracy and Calvin married in a small garden ceremony, Grace (six at the time) even taking on her new stepfather’s surname. After the birth of Amelia, Grace left went on maternity leave to look after the newborn, fully intending to go back, and for a while she did, it least until once more she fell pregnant, this time with Saffron. This time, Tracy found herself forced to leave her job that she loved at the advertising agency and become a stay at home mother raising her three children. Knowing they’d need to find a larger home for the expanding family, and needing somewhere with more job opportunities, the couple moved to Ambrose Island when Grace was ten years old.
At first things were great, they had a large home that the family could spread out in, Calvin had a good job just on the mainland that he caught the ferry to daily, and the lower costs on the island helped them financially. But it was just after the birth of Natalie that things started to go wrong. Calvin’s company folded, and the family found themselves without a stable income and a sick baby. Tracy and Calvin made a hard decision, that Calvin should take a job in Eureka which was an hour and a half drive from the ferry terminal on the mainland which meant that Calvin would have to live in Eureka during the week, and come home for the weekends. It also meant that Tracy was left to raise four girls during the week by herself, so she came to rely on eldest Grace a lot to help her.
Two children later (Malena and Elliott) and Tracy is now trying to raise six children by herself and at her wits end. Not only does she have four children under the age of ten but one (Natalie) has allergies that they are contending with and baby Elliot (the first boy) suffers colic and has a rash that he spends most of his time trying to scratch, leaving a very grumpy four-month-old. Tracy is trying her best to contend with her children but she feels out numbered by them, and that all of them just seem to be trying to make her life hell and push her over the edge when she is already so close.

Vehicle: A tan 1998 Mitsubishi Mirage that she got given by her mother when she brought a larger vehicle, it’s rather run down, but it gets her around.

House Description: The Duncan family are the first occupants of the home, which was completed just two weeks before the family moved in over eight years ago. The home was brought mainly due to the large backyard and the amount of rooms so that the ever-expanding family could expand in it. Both Mia and Saffron share a room, as do Natalie and Malena while baby Elliot has the nursery to himself, which has just been repainted for the first boy of the family. Grace has her own room over the garage, which was originally a bonus room intended to be Calvin and Tracy’s at home office. The main bedroom has an en suite, and there is a second bathroom on the second level, which is mainly used by the older kids (Grace, Mia and Saffie), while the guest bathroom on the ground level is used primarily by the younger kids (Nat, Malena and Ely) as it has a bath. Four of the five bedrooms are occupied, leaving the guest bedroom on the ground level free for relatives who often call at the most inconvenient time.
