-Character Details-
Appearance: Standing at 5'6, Alexa can be considered classically beautiful, with alluring lips and hazel eyes. She has inherited her mother's coloring, so that under her white skin is the traces of a dark undertone. She also frequently dyes her brown hair to near-black, and she likes to wear dark eyeliner to bring out the brown in her eyes. Her eyes turn quite green when she cries, which she rarely lets anyone see her do, so she doesn't like to draw attention to the green in her eyes because she equates it with vulnerability. She has a slight, lean build, and though she has voluptuous curves she is overall a pretty small girl, which she hates because she knows firsthand how vulnerable smallness can make you. She keeps fit and active, and like to dress in casual but flattering clothing, nothing overly revealing but she always looks nice and well put together. She keeps her hair shoulder-length, and usually just wears it straight and down, sometimes giving it some slight curls if she has the time and feels like doing something different. She also has two quarter-sized dimples on either side of her mouth, which she hates because that and the combination of being small makes it accurate to call her "cute."
Persona: Sophia Bush
Personality: In a word, Alexa can easily be described as 'driven.' She is the type of person who sets clear goals and executes them well, and she always presents an organized and stable face to the world. However, underneath that is the truth, which is that Alexa is afraid much of the time. She lives her life constantly on edge, as though behind every new person or situation is some kind of monster waiting to jump out and attack her. This outlook has allowed her to survive and function well, and as much as she dislikes it she feels that without it she would completely implode. She excels in everything she does, always feeling like she has to prove herself to be a normal person or everyone will know how truly screwed up she is. She is friendly and considerate towards others, but she also has a deep-seated survivor instinct towards self-preservation, and will not sacrifice herself for others easily. She doesn't consider this selfishness, but just that she has the common-sense to know how truly stupid selflessness is. At the same time, she wishes she had someone in her life worth sacrificing for, and that someone could love her enough to be romantically noble for her. She dreams of being saved but is terrified dor anyone to know that she's in danger.

History: Alexa's father, Seth, joined the military right out of high school in order to escape his home life, where his father was always drunk and more often than not beating up his mother or him. He felt like he'd found his place in the world when he started training as a Navy SEAL, and he loved the job. Partly he loved it because of the structure it provided, where he thrived, and also the power it gave him. He had felt powerless most of his life, but as a SEAL he was able to hold the power of life and death over others. Sometimes this got him into a bit of trouble, and he was written up a couple of times from his superiors for inappropriate use of his position, mostly in regards to women, but overall he was well-liked and respected by his commanding officers.
Seth had never had a girlfriend and was a virgin until his senior year of high school, something which was great source of amusement to his father and shame to him. As a SEAL, women who liked powerful men flocked to him, and he had more sex in the various countries he lived in than he could have dreamed of. There were times though when he met a woman who he was attracted to, but she didn't even give him the time of day. He was twenty-one when the first time he raped one of these women, and felt guilty afterwards. He swore he didn't mean to and that he'd never do it again, and he wasn't reported. By the third time he raped a woman, he didn't feel guilty about it anymore, instead just feeling angry that he had to resort to that in order to get them in bed, as he saw it. But he also enjoyed it, because it was another way of having power, and sometimes he even preferred it to consensual sex. Only one of the half dozen or so women he's raped while on mission for the military had the courage to report him, but Seth turned the situation around easily to make the pretty young Taiwanese girl look like a slut and him like a hero. After that, he felt he was invincible.
While on leave from the SEALs when he was twenty-two, Seth visited New York City and found himself in a strip club near Greenwich Village. One girl was particularly beautiful, and he was extremely attracted to her. He bought several lap dances from her and got most of her life story, told in just a hint of a Welsh accent that he found very sexy: Jillian was originally from a rich family in Wales, who'd sent her to boarding school in Manhattan to broaden her horizons. She had completely rebelled and now at nineteen had been working as a stripper for the last year. Her parents had cut off contact with her, but other than that she was happy with her life; the way she loved to show of her body was intoxicating for Seth, and he soon found himself asking her out. She was very attracted to him as well, and the fact that he was in the military was particularly intriguing to her, so she readily agreed and told him to wait for her until closing and they'd go out for drinks. They completely hit it off. For the first time in his life, Seth felt affection for a woman who returned his feelings, and it was a bigger high than any rape he'd yet committed. He still had to travel for work, but he began taking all his leave in New York, and counted the days until he could see her, especially when sometimes they were separated for several months at a time. She always waited for him.
When Seth was twenty-four, he returned to New York City to find that Jill was no longer working at the club. The nature of his work made receiving letters impossible, so she knew that he couldn't be reached that way, and this particular mission had lasted nearly ten months. Luckily, she was still living in the same apartment, so it wasn't hard to track her down. Often when he came back from mission he would use the key she'd given him to let himself into the apartment and surprise her; she could be kinky at times and sometimes liked him to pretend he was a stranger breaking in to ravage her, something that also turned him on. It was times like this that he knew they were a perfect match. He let himself in to her apartment like he usually did, well-trained in the art of doing everything in complete silence, and he heard the shower running. It wasn't too late so she probably wasn't going to bed, so he felt it was a perfect opportunity to go and hide in her closet and lie in wait as an "intruder."
When he quietly crept past the bathroom and opened her bedroom door, he was stopped in his tracks by what he saw. The bed was the same, and the dresser, but where in one corner there had been a small loveseat there were now two new pieces of furniture: a low dresser stacked with diapers, wipes, and other baby paraphernalia he couldn't identify, and a bassinet hung with lace so the inside was obscured. For a few moments he didn't even move, but then he moved over to the bassinet, holding his breath. Parting the gauzy curtains, he saw a baby sleeping peacefully amid soft white blankets. He knew absolutely nothing about babies, but could tell enough to know that this one was older than a newborn.
He didn't get much further in his thought process before he heard the water shut off. Jill came in, not too surprised to see him, and told him that Alexa was two months old. Her parents, having been out of the picture in her life for quite some time, now supported her financially from Wales and hated Seth. He was surprised to find that he love his daughter right from the started, and wanted to prove Jill's parents wrong about him. By this time, his own parents had retired to Palm Springs, and he knew there was a house waiting for him on Ambrose Island, next door to his sister Lilah's house. Though he'd never gotten along with his parents, he had gotten along for the most part with her, and so they decided that the family would move to Ambrose Island, giving Jill the added benefit of having family nearby while Seth was on a mission somewhere else in the world. He wasn't prepared to marry her, but she and Alexa would be his home base.
When Alexa was five years old, Jill's patience finally paid off and Seth decided he was ready to tie the not. Now nearing thirty, he retired from the SEALs and tried to settle into family life. It was a big adjustment for Alexa to have both her parents living at home now, but her father's visits had always been like Christmas because of her mother's excitement, so she felt as though him coming to live with them would be like an extended state of bliss. She was always wanting to please him, and now that he was home all the time, she became even more of a daddy's girl, something her mother thought was adorable and encouraged whole-heartedly. However, Seth couldn't handle being home 24/7, having grown used to a life of movement. He found a job as a long-haul truck driver, something that allowed him to have time to himself, travel, but still have his family be his home base. He and Jill don't say it out loud, but they both know that he is not faithful to her on the road, despite his devotion to her at home; the arrangement seems to work well for both of them.
Alexa was a very happy child, and when she was eight years old her mother found out she was going to have another baby. Alexa looked forward to being a sister, though the pregnancy was stressful one for Jill, who developed some complications and had to be put on bedrest at the hospital for her last trimester. At first it was fun just to be at home with her dad, but Seth missed Jill and was frustrated at having to be home all the time. Alexa tried to be extra nice and obedient, because she already knew that her father could have a temper, especially when drinking, which he did more now that Jill wasn't around to chide him about it. Truthfully, he scared her a little sometimes when he was drunk, sometimes yelling at her, but she thought if she just behaved it wouldn't be a big deal.
This all changed one night when when Alexa woke up to find her father sitting on the edge of her bed, which was strange because he rarely came into her room even during the day. When she was fully awake she realized that his hands were under her nightgown, running all over her body. She felt sick to her stomach and was scared, but he soothed her, saying in his alcohol breath that it was okay and that she should just calm down. She trusted him, and allowed him to continue; she had an orgasm and he took that as an invitation to go further. Only when he was balanced on top did she start screaming and crying, fighting with every ounce of strength she had. His immediate reaction was to slap her, and he did so without thinking, making her cry even harder and she started pushing on his chest. He froze for a moment and then suddenly jumped out of her bed and ran out of the room. Alexa curled into a little ball and was soon asleep; the next morning, her aunt Lilah was waking her up to take her to the hospital because her mother had just had a baby girl. Alexa allowed her aunt to dress her and take her to the hospital, where her father was already standing holding the baby, Isabelle, and acting like nothing had happened other than a flash of nervousness in his eyes when he saw his first daughter. Alexa let go of Lilah's hand, walked right over to her mother's bedside as though in a trance, and there in both Lilah and Seth's presence, told her exactly what had happened the night before.
Jill did the right thing, and kicked her husband out of the house. He spent three months at the lake house he owned jointly with Lilah before Jill couldn't stand being apart from him anymore and took him back. By that time, Alexa had been overwhelmed with so much guilt for breaking the family apart and depriving her sister and mother of their father and husband that she was content to have him home again. She had decided to pretend that it had never happened, and for a few years this worked, though both her parents now held her at arms length. Her mother, whom she'd once been close with, was suddenly far less so, though Alexa thought it had something to do with Isabelle and how busy she kept her parents. But the relationship between her and her father was inescapably damaged, and he barely came near her for a couple of years before the incident was well and truly behind everyone.
Despite the tenseness that Alexa felt growing up, Isabelle thrived and was a very happy and innocent child, reminding Alexa of how she used to be. With a mixture of anger and relief, Alexa watched Isabelle's eight year came and went without incident. Alexa has a lot of resentment towards her sister because of this, and the two are not close at all. Alexa had shifted her priorities from family to school in the wake of her parents growing indifference towards her, and seeks recognition from her teachers rather than her mother and father. She bypassed the fourth grade for her trouble, and thinks of that as just one less year she has to survive before she can get out of her house and into college.
All of this would have been fine, except that when Alexa started to hit puberty and get more and more attractive- and more and more like her mother when Seth first met her- he started to get closer to her again. When he drinks, he's inappropriate with her, whether it's just reaching out and touching or grabbing something, or if he's really feeling bold he will corner her somewhere and stick his hand down her pants or even try to have sex with her. He has never raped her, but he's come close, and she is terrified that it will one day happen. The most shameful part of it is that under her fear and disgust there is a level of excitement that comes with these encounters, and she hates herself for it. Overall though, most people would think she is an average, well-adjusted teenager, and she works hard to keep it so. She got along well with her cousin Rachel when they were young children, but as Alexa grew more and more withdrawn in her early adolescence they started to drift, and when Alexa was skipped ahead into Rachel’s grade it only put further strain on their relationship. However, once they both adjusted to being in the same classes and after they both joined Cheerleading in high school, they have started to get close again.
